Time for a holiday and a great get-away. Thailand was a great country to visit. May/June, the shoulder season, leading up to monsoon, it was hot and very humid but we enjoyed our time and now look to visit the north of Thailand in the future.

Three days in Bangkok and six in Khao Lak was not long enough, but enough to whet our appetite.

Bangkok was a busy and frenetic city with mad traffic, tuk tuk and taxi drivers always looking to “give you a deal” and many Wats (temples) and Budhas. We saw many but missed many as well; a good excuse to return.  The story of the Golden Budha at Wat Traimit especially caught our imagination.

Our time in Khao Lak was more relaxed but we still got to see a lot including some of the islands, a bit of snorkelling and an opportunity to ride and bathe an elephant. The bathing was a great experience and it was a nice feeling to “give something back” to the massive animal who carried us.
