Donna and I spent 10 days exploring New York, staying in the Brooklyn neighbourhood of Bedford–Stuyvesant (colloquially known as Bed-Stuy) and travelling everywhere on the subway. (take the “A” train)

On the very first morning as we headed to explore the area, the Brooklyn United music and arts program were holding their Saturday session, teaching percussion to local kids. It was fortunate timing to see it and it was obvious how much the participants were trying and enjoying themselves. A great way to start our time in Brooklyn.

On warm Friday and Saturday nights, the neighbourhood lives out on the stoops of their buildings with music, laughter and cars cruising the street. All part of Bed-Stuy and we enjoyed the experience.

Images here also include the neighbouring areas of Bushwick and Crown Heights as well as various areas around Manhattan Island. Also have to include Springsteen on Broadway, one of the original reasons for this trip. (And yes, it was indeed great)
